What Is A Great Chaos? My 2023 Album, Explained

If you've landed here, you've probably played Jennifer's Body or I Need U at full volume. But what is A Great Chaos, and where does it fit in my story? Here's a quick guide.

Who am I?

I'm Ken Carson, a rapper and producer from Atlanta, Georgia. In 2019 I became the first artist signed to Opium, the label run by Playboi Carti. My first two albums, Project X (2021) and X (2022), came before A Great Chaos.

When did A Great Chaos come out?

A Great Chaos is my third studio album. It came out on October 13, 2023, through Opium and Interscope Records. The lead single, I Need U, arrived months earlier, on Valentine's Day 2023.

What does it sound like?

Critics filed it under rage: maximalist, glitchy beats, very loud mixes and a hedonistic streak with flashes of vulnerability. There's a horror thread running through it too, with tracks named Jennifer's Body, Succubus and Vampire Hour.

How many songs are on it?

The standard edition has 18 tracks, from Green Room to I Need U. A deluxe edition followed on July 5, 2024, with seven more, including Overseas and More Chaos. That summer the album went on the road as the Chaos Tour, across Europe and the US.
